CareFest 2009

August 17th, 2009 by sdickinson
October 24, 2009
8:00 amto3:00 pm

Saturday, Oct 24, 8 am - 12

CareFest is a chance for Exodus to unite with other local churches to show Bloomington we care with an all-day service event (in partnership with Sherwood Oaks Christian Church). We will meet with 700 volunteers at Sherwood Oaks at 8 am, and disperse into the community. Our group from Exodus has been assigned a Landscape Renovation project at Batchelor Middle School, where we’ll pull weeds, trim bushes, and make the school grounds look great! All ages are welcome! Contact Stephanie Dickinson (stphndcknsn@hotmail.com) or Lucas Allen (lucallen@gmail.com) to sign-up.

This is a great time to do “life-together” with others from Exodus and put our faith in action in B-town!

The Experience…

August 17th, 2009 by sdickinson
September 13, 2009
6:00 pmto8:00 pm

A unique chance to get to know others and share a meal within the exodus community.

RSVP at: http://bit.ly/ugOg1

Here is how it works…

This dinner will take place in 10-12 homes simultaneously. Part of the experience is that nobody knows the hosts, or who is coming to dinner at each house. Don’t worry, we will take care of you: the reservation form allows you to choose a buddy to be paired with, list if you have any pet allergies, and etc. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy some good ‘home-cooked fellowship’. We will place you in a home, and then give them directions a few days prior.

What’s the point?…

Good Question - The point is to spend time together with people from Exodus whom we might not normally dine with. It might be a stretch beyond comfort for some, but our hope is that it is a safe chance to get to know each other and to have fun together over a meal.

Exodus Leadership Community

August 7th, 2009 by sdickinson
August 16, 2009
5:30 pmto7:30 pm

Any member of Exodus (who have signed the “I Trust Jesus” document) is invited to become part of the newly-formed Exodus Leadership Community. While this invitation is primarily focused on those who are actively involved in some aspect of ministry leadership with Exodus, all members who are interested in growing as a leader are invited.  All who are part of the Exodus Leadership Community are expected to be involved in some aspect of service within Exodus.

The purpose of these monthly leadership gathering is to:

Shepherd - To help leaders grow into and develop their leadership character and leadership gift.

Share - To provide a space for leaders to share ideas and communicate about what’s happening in their sphere

Sync – For exodus staff and directors to communicate/seek feedback about big-picture visions

Essentially, this would involve commitment to a once-a-month, Sunday night Leadership Community gathering – for 8 months (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr).

Our first Leadership Community gathering will be Sunday night, August 16 from 5:30-7:30pm at the YMCA conference room. At that time, we will discuss what this monthly time will “look like” each month.  Coming to this first gathering does not commit you to the entire 8 months, but after the August 16th gathering, we’ll ask you to commit to being part of this “community” for the remaining 7 gatherings.

If you are interested, please email me back and let me know of your interest.

Could you let me know by August 1 if you plan to attend on August 16th?  Also, if you have questions, feel free to email me.

Thanks,
Matt Nussbaum
